Apple has finally unleashed the macOS Sequoia public beta, the first beta version available to the general public (not just registered Apple developers).
The next big Mac update, dubbed macOS Sequoia at WWDC 2024, comes with a host of new features, including Window Tiling, iPhone mirroring, and the Passwords app.
How to install macOS Sequoia public beta
Before even thinking about installing macOS Sequoia public beta, we highly suggest you back up your Mac. Apple has a really good explainer on how to do this with Time Machine.
Next, you must be enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program.
Now that you’re an official Apple beta tester, and you’ve (hopefully) backed up your Mac, let’s get started on installing the macOS Sequoia public beta.

Go to System Settings.

Click on “General” followed by “Software Update.”

Click on the “i” icon next to “Beta Updates.”

In the new window, click “Off,” which will lead to a new menu.

Click on “macOS Sequoia public beta” and hit “Done.”

Back in the “Software Update” window, click on “Upgrade Now.”

In the new window, tap on “Agree.”
This should kick off a progress bar indicating that macOS Sequoia is currently being installed. The download process should take less than 10 minutes.
The official, ready-for-primetime version of macOS Sequoia is expected to roll out later this year (likely alongside iPhone 16). However, many of the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features will launch next year.
